The '24 season started on the Potomac River this year. After finding the new Aquia Ramp to be complete garbage, we once again launched from the back. Pre-fishing found many teams finding fish here and there and everywhere all at the same time. In total, 285+ bass were caught during this trip club-wide. The Potomac is healthy!
1st place went to John today with a bag of 10 lbs 13 oz and a fine kicker over 4lbs.
2nd place went to Matt with 10lbs even with the kicker of the day going 5.06 lbs.
3rd place went to Ken Eng with another 10 lb bag anchored by a smaller kicker of 4.04 lbs. Brian Howard took 4th place and Joe Montoya rounded-out the top 5. Troy went 6th and Tyler 7th at the scales with nice bags of their own.
Grass and wood cover held most the fish and with windy conditions present through-out the last two days, the club fished hard and most were beat and ready for rest after a great trip.

Anglers fished alongside the Ratz today and the two clubs weighed-in together so all members could participate in the Tourny today. Congrats to Ken Berry on his 1st Hazzard County Win!! Ken also came in with the days' lunker. Matt took second and has another strong finish followed by Troy for 3rd place. Rounding out the top 5 we have Ken Eng and Joe Montoya with good finishes to the day. The weights were lower than expected today due to FLOOD conditions. Finding deep water today was never a problem as the water really never went out today. It is reported that structure held the fish today more than grass.

Ken Eng came to the scales with the 1st place bag today. He tipped the scales at 11 lbs 11 oz with a nice 4 1/2 lb lunker. Kevin Mac came in with a nice bag of bass for his first weigh-in with the club. His bag went 10.02 lbs and was good for 2nd place. Troy came in 3rd with just under 10 lbs followed by Brian's nice bag of 9 lbs 3 oz and Dave Enderlein rounded out the top 5.
Bass came from all over today, From the Flats to Northeast, to Furnace Bay and Garrett Island, the bite was all over the place. The BIG BITE, however, was found by mostly by the top 4 Anglers today.

The hottest day of the year served as host of todays event. 15 went out today and the weigh-in was full of twists and turns that flipped the leaderboard on its head.
Coming in 1st place today was Tyler Crawford with a 3 fish bag of 9 lbs 11 oz. His bag was anchored by a 4 lb 11 oz hog pulled from the river. Tyler fished mostly hard cover in the river today.
2nd place went to John Richick today with a 3 fish limit of 9lbs 6oz and a 4.00lb kicker. He fished the flats from start to finish on a tough hot, windy day with Tim Duff. Tim had an impressive finish of 4th place weight and a nice 3lbs 15 oz Largemouth.
3rd place went to Brian Howard with another strong finish having 8lbs 5oz come to the scales today. Brian fished Furnace in various ways with Mack in the Ranger.
Ken Berry came to the scales with a good bag going almost 5 1/2 on 3 fish. This provided much needed points to not lose any ground in overall points. Followed by Matt also catching a little stringer of 3 with just over 5 lbs. A couple of 2 fish stringers and 1 fish stringers rounded out a tough day of fishing that had lots of pressure, heat, and wind to deal with throughout the day. Ther overall points have been shuffled once again bringing the top 8 angers all within one tournament from the lead!!
The TOP 5 are separated by only 4 POINTS! Ken Eng had a tough day and as a result, his lead has been cut to only 1 point. John made up 10 spots to now sit in 2nd place just a single point from the lead.
And just 2 points behind 2nd place, Troy Duff has fished consistent enough to stay near the top en route to defending his Mr. Bass title. Then, you have Brian Howard and Matt Houtz sitting just 1 point behind Troy. Brian has been on good fish this year and Matt is being Matt.....never out of it! And then on top of that, just mere points separate Ken Berry, Tyler Crawford, and Joe Montoya from being at the top after a high finish in the next tournament or two.
We would like to acknowledge Reese Enderlein and Tim Duff for fishing as junior Bass anglers today. Reese weighed-in a fine fish today (a little bigger than his Dad's if I remember right?)
And great job Tim with a 3 fish limit of 7 lbs 09 oz with a 3.15lb kicker.
Welcome also to Jacob. Jacon fished as a guest with the club today.

The club launched from Tydings this evening and held a LUNKER ONLY tournament. The club set out on the upper bay between the Susquehanna and Northeast rivers today and the competition was close. Dave came to the scales with tonight's lunker going just shy of 4 pounds today in the windy evening conditions. Matt took 2nd place followed by Mac taking 3rd place. All Lunkers carried double points awarded to big fish tonight. There was some movement in total points standings with Matt jumping into 1st place overall with Ken Eng, Troy, john, and Brian well within strinking distance.

Todays tourny found the club back on the familiar waters of the Northeast River. This tournament starts the final stretch of the season as time marches on towards the end of the season. Tough fishing conditions greeted the club today (as many Sunday's do) as the fish got hit hard the day before and, as always, the ever present windy conditions gave the club more than just pressured fishing waters to overcome. Two anglers came in with a limit today with 1st place going to John and 2nd going to Joe Montoya. Matt once again does enough to finish high with a 3rd place finish followed by the Ken Squared duo of Ken Eng and Ken Berry taking 4th and 5th place honors. Total points again shifted slightly with Matt maintaining the overall lead and John sliding into 2nd place. Ken Eng puts himself in 3rd overall with a nice finish as well. Troy and Joe Montoya are just beneath Ken after todays tournament.

The club members spread out on the river today with several other clubs and everyone came in with limits today. In a closely contested tournament, it was Ken Eng and Troy Duff coming in with 7 lbs 10 oz each with the tie-breaker going to Ken Eng for 1st place with his bigger Lunker. Troy's 2nd place finish helped move him up in the total points standing for Mr Bass. 3rd place went to angler Kevin with just 5 oz less than Ken and Troy. Matt Houtz, once again, has a nice finish which keeps him at the top of the leaderboard with Ken Eng. And with 1 regular season tournemnet left, we find a heated race for the points lead between Matt Houtz and Ken Eng tied for the lead with 699 points. John is just under these two anglers with 695 and Troy sits in 4th with 692 points. After that, we have a bit of a gap to 5th place which is being held down by Ken Berry. Ken B is still within sight of the top 3 with 676 points, but clearly has some work to do to get inside the top 3.
The club has just one regular season tournament left at the end of October and with water temps hovering in the mid-60's, fall water temps are about to drop quickly which is likely to spark a feeding frenzy where anything can happen. Especially with the DOUBLE POINTS CLASSIC just around the corner in NOVEMBER. The last two tournaments are bound to be exciting as the top 3 spots are still in question with the best fishing still ahead.
SPECIAL THANKS TO OUR GUESTS THIS YEAR!

Today was the close-out, regular season tournament for 2024. Only the Club Classic remains.
This final tournament ended up being a hotly contested battle that saw the best weigh-in of the year in total pounds edging out the Potomac and Flats tournaments earlier this year. There is a lot to unpack in this one....lets get started....
Ken Eng took 1st place today securing his 3rd win of 2024 and, in addition, the win catapults Ken to the top of the leaderboard heading into the Classic. Ken's 12 lb 12 oz bag of Bigmouths was anchored by a 4 1/2 lb Lunker today. This bag of Bass also gives Ken Stringer of the Year honors going into the 2024 Classic. Ken holds a 7 point lead over Troy, a 10 point lead over John, and an 11 point lead over Matt. This is a quality lead, but everyone knows what the Double points classic can do to a lead. Ken needs to show-up at the Classic with his A-game, despite his lead!
Troy came is 2nd today with an impressive 11 pound stringer of his own. Troy weighed-in a 5 lb 07 oz hawg today and kept pace with Ken. As a result, Troy holds on strong to 2nd place overall and in great shape to defend his Mr. Bass title with a big finish in the Classic.
John Continues to hold down 3rd place overall and remains in a position to strike hard in the classic to leap frog both Troy and Ken to regain the Mr. Bass title. John limped to the scales with 6 lbs 14 oz for a 6th place finish today. John is paired with Matt Houtz in the 2024 Classic. Matt is only 1 point behind John after losing ground to Troy and Ken today with a 9th place finish. But Matt is known very well for his HUGE classic performances. These 4....Ken, Troy, John, And Matt are the anglers in sight of the 2024 Mr. Bass title.
Absolutely worth mentioning are the bags that Kevin and Mac brought to the scales today. Both anglers had a bass over 5 lbs and both also weighed-in over 10 lbs on 3 fish. With that, some re-arranging of the record books in the Club Records section will take place as well.
2024 tournament winners so far:
John Richick (Potomac & Northeast I)
Ken Eng (The Flats I & Northeast II & III)
Ken Berry (Joppatowne)
Tyler Crawford (The Flats II)
Dave Enderlein (Flats Lunker Tournament)
Troy Duff (Northeast CLASSIC)
The 2024 Classic found 11 anglers heading out fishing the warm, November waters of the Northeast river for all the marbles. 10 of the 11 anglers brought limits to the scales today and set up an epic battle at the top of the leaderboard with the day starting out with a 7 point lead by Ken Eng after a terrific season of Bass Fishing in 2024.
As predicted, the club had the river to itself today except for a couple of anglers pre-fishing for the weekends open tournament in a few days. The morning bite started out slowly but began to ramp up after the sun took to the warm morning sky. Water temps were in the low 60's and the air temps reached into the high 60's. This reminded you of a warm spring morning rather than the cold, chilly days for which November is known.
At the weigh-in, Bag after bag of quality Bass rolled through the scales and tensions were high among the leaders as the double points Classic always brings Joy to some and thoughts of what could have been to others. In the end, Troy Duff came to the scales late in the weigh-in and it was clear that a come-back win was about to take place. Ken watched as his impressive lead vanished throughout the weigh-in as bags of quality Bigmouths moved him further from the top. Ken came to the scales with a good bag of Largemouth that went 7 lbs 14 oz and all he could do was watch and see how the rest would fair.
John and Matt came to the scales with bags that tipped the scales just over 8 lbs. With Ken still clinging to a narrow lead, Matt slid into 2nd place and John was resting in the 3rd place overall spot with all 3 anglers knowing that Troy had yet reached the scales. Impressive Bags from Kevin Mac, Kevin Beaudeen, and Brian Howard made the weigh-in crackle with energy as it seemed un-likely that Troy could bring a bag to the scales that could bring him a 4th Classic win and another Mr Bass title. Kevin Mac's 10 lb 6 oz bag was topped with a 3.14 lb kicker for an awesome average bag of bass. Kevin Beaudeen's 9 lb 07 oz bag was anchored by a 4 lb 2 oz beauty and Brian tallied-up 9 lbs 05 oz of largemouth of his own. Word was beginning to spread that Troy got on some good fish in the last hour and a half of the tournament and the stage was set for the grand finale of the '24 Classic.
Troy came to the scales with another Classic winning bag of 10 lbs 07 oz to take the Classic win by 1 ounce over Mac's bag. Troy's bag was locked down with a 4 lb 5 oz kicker that also took Lunker of the Day honors and as a result of a late-day charge, Troy Duff passes Ken Eng in a hard-fought Classic by all involved. Indeed, the entire season was hard-fought and very well-fished by both Ken Eng and Troy Duff. Ultimately, Troy takes 1st Place, Ken secures 2nd place easily, and Matt drops John out of the top 3. Leads were held by Ken Eng, Matt Houtz, and John Richick this year but it was the final lead change that really mattered. Troy Duff took the lead with the final bag of the year and in the process wins his 3rd Mr Bass and 4th Classic win. Troy is on a roll over the last 3 years with 3 Classic wins IN A ROW and back-to-back Mr Bass titles. Furthermore, Troy has 4 Classic wins in the last 7 years. It is clear that the road to future Mr Bass titles and Classic Championships will absolutely go through Uncle Jessie Territory and the challenge will no doubt be accepted by the Club members of Hazzard.
Congratulations to Troy Duff! You have been on a roll for sure. And Congratulations to Ken Eng for having a dominating year as well. Ken always seemed to finish at or near the top this year and has shown that it really is just a matter of time for his own Mr Bass title in the near future. We would also like to congratulate Matt Houtz for his 3rd Place finish and another CO-angler of the year honor. Money Matt is always in the talk at the top year in and year out.
And finally, Thanks to all the club members of Hazzard County Bassmasters for another fun and exciting year of fishing. This is such a fun group of great guys to fish with every year. Special thanks to the River Ratz guys that have joined forces with Hazzard. We have created a great group of fishermen here that makes fishing fun while still having competition and experiences on the water that bond us as brothers. We have become the Hazzardous Rat Bass Turds?!....or something like that. See ya in '25!
