2007 - 2026

WELCOME TO THE HOME OF THE HAZZARD COUNTY BASSMASTERS!!

2 0 0 7 - 2 0 2 6

We Began our club in the fall of 2006 to hang out and enjoy the sport of bass fishing. our first tournament was held out of joppatowne in march of 2007. We fish the Upper Chesapeake Bay, the Potomac, Deep Creek Lake, and Conowingo Lake. We practice catch and release and have a great deal of respect for our sport, our fellow anglers, and our waters. We began as a small club with the intention of learning, teaching, and sharing our sport of bass fishing. In 2015, We decided as a club that we would go to a 3 fish limit per angler to help for fish conservation. We hope other clubs and events in our area consider this as well. Our members are from the Northern region of the state of Maryland : Harford County a.k.a. Hazzard County , Baltimore County , Cecil County, Carroll County, Howard County, and Southern PA.

Fishing was very good the entire trip.  While nothing big was caught, besides a couple of 5's caught during practice days, a good number of bass were caught from 1 to 3 lbs.  This is a great sign of a healthy fishery.  Especially considering the fact that the club focused most of its efforts in a relatively small area.  Forecasts were predicting wind the last two days and most anglers got into finding fish without having to go too far.  They were there and they were chewing pretty good most of the time.   Jumping from spot to spot was usually rewarded with fish at every stop.  Some better than others, of course, but if you got the timing right, you had a blast.

The weigh-in was tight and very competitive.  Troy, K-Mac, Dave, and Brian all got on good ones that averaged over 3 pounds per fish (as did our Star-Junior fisherman, Timothy Duff).   The rest followed suite with very good bags that were a big fish or just one bite away from being at the top.

What a great turn out and fun time on the water with Hazzard County Bassmasters!

Brian came in today with another great bag of Bass to take first place on the Flats today.  Brian focused on grass and wood in his favorite area for this time of year.  Brian tipped the scales at just over 10 lbs on his 3 fish limit.  While Ken Berry made a little noise of his own coming in with 8 lbs 10 oz on 3.  Things got tight further back with tough fishing that yielded lots of 13 to 14 inch bass in the prime locations today.  A keeper was a treat to catch today, as the bite was there, but finicky at best.  One thing that came out of this is a definite shake-up in the points race.....Things are tightening-up as they always seem to do.

Timmy Duff (2) 4.14lbs 3.05

John comes out on top in a close finish at Tydings today.  Kevin Mac took 2nd place once again and keeps his place securely at the top of the standings.  Ken Eng and Troy had a strong finish and things are tightening even more as we move into the 3rd leg of the Flats.  The key today was Grass and cleaner water.

Tournament #6 - THE FLATS 3

Today's weigh-in may be huge in the scheme of things.  The points race has been turned upside down and the rest of the season is set for a thrilling run to the Mr Bass title and the all-important, game-changing, head-spinning finish we all know as the Double-Points CLASSIC for all the marbles.

The Top 3 are separated by only 4 points!  John has joined Joe and Kevin Mac at the top of the points race and erased any early lead that Joe and Mac had amassed with strong finishes by all 3 anglers through-out the first 6 tournaments.   Then there's a pile up of strong bass catchin machines from 4th to 8th place.  The WILDCARD TEAM tournament is next.  This should be an interesting event.  We will meet before this tournament and set all pairings and details.

Tournament #7 - THE team LUNKER tournament - in the northeast river

5th: DAVE AND MATT - 2.02 for 98 PTS

6th: BRIAN AND KEN - 1.12 FOR 96 PTS

Tough Fishing on the northeast in low water, windy conditions.  Water has been out for days

Tournament #8 - THE NORTHEAST EARLY FALL

1st: Brian Howard (3) 9.03LBS  4.07 LUNKER

2nd: Kevin Maccallini (3) 8.03lbs  2.15

3rd: Troy Duff (3) 7.01lbs   2.09

4th: Kevin Beaudean (2) 6.11lbs. 3.12

5th: Joseph Williams (3) 6.08lbs. 3.07

6th: David Enderlein (3) 5.00lbs. 2.14

8th: John Richick (1) 2.13lbs

9th: Ken Eng (1) 1.02lbs

10: Ken Berry Matthew Houtz  DNW

Most anglers got on the bite, but the bite was best in

just a few areas.  They were not really spread out but rather grouped-up in certain areas....Anglers that found those key areas did well by sitting there....those that moved around today found it difficult to isolate the fish

Tournament #9 - THE NORTHEAST LATE FALL

1st: Kevin Maccallini (3) 9.01lbs 3.15 LUNKER

2nd: Brian Howard (3) 7.05lbs 3.01

3rd: John Richick (3) 6.15lbs 2.14

4th: Joe Montoya (3) 5.14lbs 2.08

5th: Matthew Houtz (3) 5.08lbs 2
07

6th: David Enderlein (3) 4.12lbs 2.10

7th: Ken Eng (1) 3.13lbs

8th: Troy Duff (2) 3.07lbs 1.13

9th: Kevin Beaudean (2) 3.07lbs 1.10

10th: Ken Berry DNW

11th: Joseph Williams DNF :

Lots of fish around the same size came to the scales today.  Fishing was better today and the same key areas that have been producing are still the best areas to hit hard and move very little.

Hazzard County Bassmasters Junior Anglers

Timothy Duff (3) 9.06lbs 3.14

Todays tournament was well-contested.  In the end, it was Ken Berry that put together the winning bag of impressive bass.  Kens bag of 11 lbs 14 oz easily took Classic Championship Honors ahead of 2nd Place angler, John Richick.  John finished strong with a 9 pound bag and 3 1/2 lb kicker and kept the pressure on Kevin Macinelli to have a strong finish of his own.  Kevin did just that.  Tipping the scales with just over 8 pounds and a 3.05 lb kicker, Kevin has become the club's 6th Mr.Bass in its history.   Congratulations to Kevin "Kmac" Macinelli for his 2026 Mr Bass finish.

Brian also finished strong just under John and Kmac and locked-down the 3rd place trophy for 2026.  From there we had good finishes from Joe Montoya, Dave Troy and Matt.

One great point of interest is our Junior Basser Timothy Duff.  Tim finished the year with a 9 lb 6 oz bag today while partnered with John.  This would have been good for 2nd place today.  Tim fished strong all year and would have finished with 991+ points to finish the year in the 4th or 5th position with full membership participation.   Tim plans on fishing with full membership privileges in 2026, with both Dad's and the clubs blessing.
